hole and candy from Making A Lather

I have all the blocks I need to make this rainbow project into a top. I have really enjoyed making this. I liked using my smallest pieces to make the string rectangles into something useful. By using the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. the colors are bright and happy. I have moved them to a box of their own and plan to take them with me to open sews for assembly.

I was one block short of having all the blocks I need for the candy quilt. I felt I needed a chocolate in there someplace.

This block has ...

hole in my scraps from Making A Lather

I am barely finishing these hole in the barn blocks for the month of August and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

I think I have nearly all of them that I need for the quilt.

I have a few zipper blocks ready to go. I just don't have many orange scraps. I like orange in quilts, but it isn't an often used color.

misfit from Making A Lather

ummm - no! Should I fix it? haha

Why, yes, yes,  I should. Some days are vexing. I ran out of bobbin thread too! But, July's purple hole in the barn blocks are finished for the  rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I have a growing stack of blocks. I know we haven't done orange. What other colors?

Still trying to organize the pantry. I have dehydrated older tomatoes and beans I found buried. They take up less room this way and it prolongs the shelf life. I will still want to put these at the front to use ...

hole in the barn from Making A Lather

I really like making these blocks and see another quilt in my future. I am making this as part of the  rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This month is blue. I am never at a loss for blue scraps. They multiply while I am asleep. I also do not have a shortage of strings and crumbs, so, a perfect combination.

I made bone broth and decided to can it rather than freeze it. To finish the canner load I canned navy beans, too. We opened a recently canned ham and bean quart to test it. It was delicious, but ...

lucky blocks from Making A Lather

I guess, I wanted a little shamrock luck making these hole in the barn blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

pink blocks here

My husband harvested a laundry basket of stinging nettle from our yard. He adds it to his peppermint herb tea for the anti- inflammatory properties. It filled the whole dehydrator. we joke that we spent years trying to eradicate this weed from our yard and now, we harvest it. Ha-ha. I am just glad he handles it and I don't have to do it.

string blocks from Making A Lather

I grabbed a bucket of strings and crumbs and started sewing pieces together for my hole in the barn quilt. I feel like I am going to run out of the strips before I am done with all the colors for the rainbow scrap challenge. I only need the rectangles to be 2 1/2 inch wide. It is a great opportunity to use the small pieces.

I am aiming for rectangles that are 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.

I enjoyed my Mother's day with church and family for dinner. But, it certainly wore me out ...

a little hole in the wall from Making A Lather

I am cutting more pink scraps from 2 1/2 inch strips.

new zipper pieces and stashbuster

Pink is a good color for these Hole in the barn blocks. I just unearthed ( by cleaning) more yellow block parts.

Hubby and I traveled to a fiber fair yesterday in Greencastle Indiana. It was the first one since the pandemic started.
I have more than enough fleece already at home, but they look so nice for spinning.

Loved these grain silos

note link star and crown as well and shine

I used some strings and crumbs and made yellow hole in the barn blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This block really makes me smile. Winter is trying to make a comeback here, but, it won't last. Until then, these will perk up rainy days.

hole in the barn blocks from Making A Lather

We planned to attend a hook in ( rug hooking) in Nashville Indiana last weekend, but, our freezer took it's last breath. So, the weekend was quick buying a freezer ( the real ordeal), waiting for delivery, and switching a million pounds of food from one to another. Geesh, we are getting too old for this nonsense. how did that happen?

I took little bits of strings and crumbs and made the fabric for the Hole in the barn blocks. I wasn't planning on doing this, this year, but, there are a few too many small pieces of scraps that ...

5 quilts march 7, 2022 from Making A Lather

  My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - yellow/gold  I am working on my hole in the barn blocks. I didn't think I was going to add these this year, but, I did. SO, I am catching up red from January, and aqua from February.

I used adding machine tape to see if I like it. Yes, I did, but it was a pain in the neck, so, I thought I could eyeball 2 1/2 inches and just started sewing long strips. Much better.
